Canicross Ireland - have you heard of them? It’s a club for anyone interested in dog powered sports. They have great events - more about that below -  and are a really friendly bunch of people and doggos!

What’s Canicross all about?  

Let’s have a look at the sports Canicross Ireland promotes in a safe & fun way.  There’s canicross, bikejoring and scootering. The first thing we learnt about these sports and what we love most about them is that hoomans and doggos work as a team to win the race. 

Canicross started as an off-season sport for the sledding community in Europe. Imagine it as cross country running where one or two dogs are attached to the runner. There’s specialised equipment to keep everyone safe. 

Bikejoring started similarly but instead of both hooman and dogs running, the dogs run in front of bikes. Again, there is specialised equipment involved to keep every doggo and hooman on the team safe. 

Finally, scootering is very similar to bikejoring but with a scooter made for cross country endeavours. 

Canicross Ireland supports these sports with events and races. Their final one is coming  up on March 8th and 9th in Drewstown House, Meath. And Mr Curtis gets to sponsor prizes and give every Canicross Ireland Member a treaty discount!
