New Look & New Treat from Mr Curtis
We had two big announcements in the last few days: Brand new packaging and a brand new treat from Mr Curtis.
It’s been a labour of love and drool. We hope you and your doggos enjoy them!
Training Treats - 100% Irish Beef Liver
We have created a new high value training treat made purely from Irish beef liver. There is no other ingredient, no artificial flavours, no grain and no gluten.
We opted for beef liver because it’s rich in essential vitamins and minerals. It is packed with protein, iron and various B vitamins. This gives your dog energy and vitality. Exactly what you want during training. And because there is nothing else added, the taste is just delicious.
The treats are made by freeze drying the liver. We’ll do another post going into the details of freeze drying soon. But in short, freeze drying is a preservation process that removes moisture but maintains the nutrients of the ingredients, nutritional value, taste and aroma.
These treats are 100% Irish Beef Liver. One ingredient. No fluff. No fillers.
New Packaging for all our treats
As we developed the new treat we had a look at our packaging and the feedback we received from you and our amazing retail partners. There were two things that stood out:
See what you buy
Many people new to Mr Curtis want to see the treats before they buy them. Totally fair and our old packaging didn’t have a window. It took a little while to find a supplier who could do it the way we wanted and have the window recyclable. But now there is a big paw print window on each pack.
More variety and flexibility
You wanted to have bigger packs at home and smaller ones for one the road. Packs that fully reseal and could withstand a fair bit of drool, puddles and could be easily rolled up into your pocket. That’s why our packs now come in our new wipeable material. Our oven baked Bites comes in two sizes now: A handy 60g pack for on the go and the tail waggin’ mega pack at 150g.
Fully recyclable
One of the big learnings for us as we started Mr Curtis was around materials and packaging. A lot of what we believe can be recycled might not be fully able to. For example, lots of packaging with clear windows cannot fully be recycled or materials with coating like aluminium. So it was important for us to look for packaging that is certified “Made for Recycling".
The packaging is made from mono-plastic, there is no aluminium and it’s free from solvent adhesives.
It took a while to find this. Because we also didn’t want the packaging to have a lesser protection value. Your treats should stay fresh, not be impacted by sun exposure and other factors. We finally found this in our new packaging partner.
So we are thrilled that all of our treats now come in 100% recyclable packaging.
