A few months ago, we introduced our Super Pup Shampoo Bars at local markets, and the response has been amazing! We’ve received so many great questions about them, and now that they’re available online, we thought we’d take a moment to answer them all in one place:
1. Are they really Hooman Tested?
Yes, absolutely! Before we let Curtis and his pup pals try out our Super Pup Shampoo Bars, we tested them on ourselves. We wanted to be sure that the scents weren’t too overpowering, that the bars were gentle on skin and fur, and, of course, that we (hair, beards and fur) were left feeling fresh and clean! Safety first—both for our furry friends and for us!
2. What scents are available?
We’ve crafted three unique, all-natural scents to cater to different needs:
Calming Lavender & Oat: A perfect blend to calm both the senses and the skin. Ideal for dogs (and humans!) who need a little relaxation during bath time.
Soothing Geranium, Tea Tree & Dillisk: Chosen for its soothing and nourishing properties, this combination is great for sensitive skin and provides a gentle, natural cleanse.
Fresh Orange & Citronella: A refreshing, citrusy scent that also helps repel pesky bugs. Perfect for those outdoor adventures when your dog’s coat needs a little extra freshness!
3. How do I use the Super Pup Shampoo Bars?
Using our shampoo bars is a breeze! Here’s how:
Wet your dog’s coat with lukewarm water.
Rub the shampoo bar directly on their fur or use a loofah/washcloth to create a lather.
Give your dog a relaxing massage while the shampoo soaks in for a few minutes. Curtis absolutely loves this part!
Rinse thoroughly, and repeat if needed.
Avoid their eyes, ears, and nose.
4. Why are they not as foamy as other shampoos?
Great question! Our bars don’t create as much foam because we don’t use any artificial foaming agents. What we do use are natural, nourishing ingredients that clean and freshen your dog’s coat without the added chemicals. Rest assured, they’ll be just as clean (and smell just as great) with less foam!
5. What exactly is in them?
We believe in keeping things simple and natural. Here’s what goes into each bar:
Goats milk soap base for a gentle cleanse
Shea butter to nourish and moisturise
Sulfate-free shampoo base to protect the coat
Castor oil to help lock in moisture
Apple cider vinegar to adjust the shampoo to the pH of a dog
Essential oils for natural fragrance and added benefits
Depending on the scent, we also add dried lavender, oats, dillisk, orange, and/or lemon for that extra special touch!
6. The bar feels greasy - why?
You might notice the bar feels a little greasy when it's too hot or too cold. This is totally normal—it’s just the natural oils like castor oil and shea butter adjusting to temperature changes. Don’t worry, your dog’s coat won’t feel greasy after the wash! It’s all part of the natural ingredients working their magic.
7. How do I store the bar?
Just like any soap or shampoo bar, it’s best to store your Super Pup Shampoo Bar in a soap dish or a small container with a lid. This will keep it dry and ready for its next use!
8. How many uses do I get out of one bar?
It depends on your dog’s size and coat length, but Curtis typically gets about 6-8 washes from one bar. Smaller dogs may get even more use, and larger dogs might use a bit more per wash.
